Koshta Pariksha va Doshaprakruti sambadha ek abhyas. (Relation of colon sensitivity & Biotype)

Title : Koshta Pariksha va  Doshaprakruti sambadha ek abhyas. (Relation of Koshtha & Biotype)

Dr. M.A. Khandare submitted her dissertation to Pune university in 1995 for the P.G. degree M.D.( Sharir Kriya ). Her guide was Dr. R. Vaze. Research center was Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Pune.

This dissertation is in Marathi local language, Dr. Khandare had tried to see correlation in between constitution & Colonic sensitivity ( Koshtha ) 100 volunteers were registered for this project by interrogation, nature of the stool was noted accordingly diagnosis of koshtha ( Colonic sensitivity) was noted. This koshtha was then confirmed by administering purgative & recording its effect.

For purgation shweta Nishottar powder 1.5 gm was given in capsulated form (3 Capsules) stat.

Research work was concluded as follow -

I)                  75% similarity was found in predominance of dosha & constitution & in stool nature.
II)               85% Similarity was found in predominance of dosha in constitution & in koshtha.
III)            75% Similarity was found in the diagnosis of koshtha done with stool nature & with effect of purgatives.
IV)           Hence diagnosis of koshtha can be done stool nature.

a)    Vata constitution – Krura Koshtha (Hard) – Dry, Hard stool.
b)    Pitta constitution – Mrudu Koshtha (soft) – Watery, semisolid nature.
c)     Kapha constitution – Madhyam Koshtha (Moderate colonic sensitivity) – formed stool.

Diseases of joints and their correlation with prakruti.

Title: Diseases of joints and their correlation with prakruti.

Dr. Anil E. Joshi submitted his dissertation to Pune University in 1993 for the P.G. degree M.D. (Sharir Kriya) His guide was Dr. J. K. Barde. Research center was Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Pune.

Dr. Joshi in his dissertation tried to show relation between the constitution & various joint diseases.

He has selected 100 adult patients suffering from joint diseases. Prakruti determination was done of all the patients. Study was carried out at O.P.D. basis & regular follow up was done upto next two months.

Vata or Vata-pitta constitution people are found prone to joint diseases. Joint disorders were found more common in age group of 61 -70 years. Female gender was found more prone for joint problem.

Patients suffering from joint disorders were doing laborious hard work like farming, construction labour, Rickshaw drivers, wireman, porter etc.

Patients had joint complaints more in the period of Nov. to January & June to August (cold Climate of the season mite be responsible for vata provocatition)

Quantitative estimation of the efficiency of ‘chashurendriya’ (Human Eye) with help of reaction time analyzer in ayurvedic students of Bharati Vidyapeeth’s college of Ayurved and its correlation to prakruti

Title: Quantitative estimation of the efficiency of ‘chashurendriya’ (Human Eye) with help of reaction time analyzer in ayurvedic students of Bharati Vidyapeeth’s college of Ayurved and its correlation to prakruti.

Dr. Mrs. K. Indapurkar submitted her dissertation to Pune University in 1997 for the P.G. degree M.D. (Sharir Kriya). Her guide was Dr. J. K. Barde. Research center was Bharati Vidyapeeth’s college of Ayurved, Pune.

In this research work efficiency of eye (Chakshurendriya) in terms of reaction time required to respond to a visual stimulus was determined and then correlated with constitution.

130 volunteers were studied from the age group 18 t0 22 years.

The equipment used was Visual Response Analyzer.

For each student VRT (Visual response time) was taken with an interval of 3 mins during which period the students was asked to relax by closing the eyes. For each student the flashing of the red light was for 1oth of a seconds & delay range was anything between 3 – 30 seconds. When the student press the lever the VRT was displayed on the indicator dial in digits.

          Research concluded that –

There is definite correlation in visual reaction time (VRT) and doshik constitution e.g. vata prakruti reacts very fast.

A study of Rakta dhatu & Raktavaha Strotas in correlation with reticulo endothelial system

Title: A study of Rakta dhatu & Raktavaha Strotas in correlation with reticulo endothelial system

Dr. R. S. Dhimdhime submitted his dissertation to Pune University in 1998 for the P.G. degree M.D. (Sharir Kriya).  His guide was Dr. D. S. Khoche. Research center was Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya.

This dissertation is in Marathi local language.

This research is of compilatory type.

Compilation of Rakta dhatu & Raktavaha strotas is done from prevadik period till date.

The scholar had tried to correlate Rakta dhatu with blood and Raktavaha strotas with Reticulo endothelial system.

Liver & Spleen which are mentioned as mool sthan (Controlling organ) of Raktavaha Strotas can be understood as capillary bed in liver & spleen.

The main function of reticulo endothelial system is phagocytosis & to provide immunity & strength to human body. Similarly to provide strength is also main function of Rakta dhatu.

Proper healthy perception of touch (Sparshgnanam asamshagam) is a function of Rakta dhatu. This function can be correlated with modern function of antigenic recognition.

Title: Purishvaha Strotasgata Sharir- Kriya: Ek Abhyas = Study of Purishvaha srotas (stool formation & excretion tract )

This dissertation has submitted to Pune University in 1996 for the P.G. degree M.D. (Sharir Kriya).

The dissertation is in Marathi language. In this research work mainly Purishvaha Strotas is studied for this study three type of examination were taken consideration –

 I) Stool examination.
 II) Koshtha (colonic sensitivity).
 III) Constitution determination.

35 volunteers were examined and koshtha was determined on the basis of nature of stool. The age group was 15 – 20 Years Amongst 35 volunteers 16 Krur (Hard) Koshta People were of Vata constitution, 11 moderate
(Madhyam)  Koshtha people were of Kapha   constitution, 11 soft koshtha people were pitta constitution.

After examining 100 stool samples it was seen that in 89 cases the dosha involved in pathogenesis of disease and dosha involved in the pathological state of stool are same. e.g. in Pittaja diarrhoeas the features of stool sample were also showing the pitta predominance.
